  • The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater NW Indiana announced that Jerry Czarnecki has been named vice president of operations to oversee nine clubs and 11 Kidstop locations — he brings 26 years of teaching and nonprofit leadership experience, including an executive role at the Portage Chamber of Commerce.  Z107.1

  • The Shipshewana On The Road Gift, Food and Craft Show will run in Valparaiso on Saturday, Mar. 21 and Sunday, Mar. 22, offering unique trinkets and handmade crafts. The event opens Saturday (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM) and Sunday (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM) while charging $5 for adults with free access for those 12 and under.  PanoramaNOW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Valparaiso High School ended its winter break on Jan.4 with students celebrating via door decorating contests, food drives and Spirit Week. Now, as new classes start + sports games approach on Jan.12, students look forward to a MLK Day weekend break on Jan.17-19.  Valpo Life
  • NCAA champion Sylvia Crawley Spann will speak at IU Northwest on Wednesday, Jan. 28, presenting her SLAM Program with a workshop and a public meet and greet before being honored prior to basketball games; campus and local school members are invited to join + build leadership.  NWI.LIFE

  • Hebron High School Athletic Department will induct its first Hall of Fame class on Friday, Jan. 16 during a basketball double-header against Westville. The ceremony, held between the Varsity Girls & Varsity Boys games at 6 p.m., honors eleven athletes and coaches from six decades.  Z107.1
