  • City officials said three downtown projects, including The Linc mixed-use development and the Lincoln Highway Garage, now add new housing, retail opportunities and public parking to boost the walkable core.   • Bangkok Thai & Sushi has rebranded as new Bangkok and moved to a new spot, according to a recent announcement by the restaurant. Details on the exact location and future plans will be shared soon.  NWI Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Serena Ard starts her role as Porter County historian and plans to share local stories that celebrate the area’s past and spark community interest. She stated that she loves making others excited about local history.  NWI Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Purdue University Northwest recognized 1,877 undergraduates on its fall Dean's List for meeting GPA requirements of 3.5 overall and 3.0 each semester. The honored students came from 21 US states and 38 countries.  Valpo Life
  • Duneland Superintendent Dr. Chip Pettit will leave at the end of the 2025-26 school year to head Hinsdale Township High School District 86 in Illinois. His tenure included grade redistricting, building upgrades, and expanded college and career programs.  Z107.1

SPORTS NEWS

  • Paul Schrage ‘57, a longtime supporter of Valpo men’s basketball, passed away on Jan. 28 at age 90 in Tempe, AZ; a Celebration of Life service will be held on Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. at Desert Foothills Lutheran Church — honoring his lasting legacy through generous contributions.  Valpo Life
  • Northwest Indiana trade unions are working to ensure any new Bears stadium is built with local union labor if the team decides to cross the state (a decision pending). Their efforts aim to secure local jobs and maintain high construction standards for the potential project.  NWI Times
