  • Belvedere Senior Housing hosted its third annual Soul Food Night on Feb. 26 for Black History Month. Residents, families and community partners enjoyed live music from The Fabulous Kings Band + a meal featuring fried chicken, fish, yams and more, highlighting active senior living and family connection.  NWI.LIFE

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Resmed — a company from San Diego that supplies digital health tech — plans a 446,000 sqft distribution center in Greenwood. The facility will open in 2027 with a $30 million investment and create over 100 local jobs.  Z107.1

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ivy Tech Community College is hosting its 22nd annual campus Spring Fundraiser on March 13 at Aberdeen Manor (Valparaiso), featuring a 1940s mystery theme by the Northwest Indiana Mystery Players; tickets priced at $100 with $50 tax-deductible are available until March 3 to aid students.  XROCK 103.9
  • Earlier this month, Wheeler schools celebrated Space Week with fun science+art events that included an inflatable planetarium to excite students.   • The Indiana BMV has introduced the new Amateur Radio License Plate that shows an operator’s callsign to honor volunteer emergency service. Applicants must visit a BMV branch with proper documentation to join public safety efforts.  XROCK 103.9

  • Meridian Road between U.S. 6 and County Road 900 North in Porter County will close for five months starting Monday, Mar. 2 to allow small structure replacement; drivers should follow detour routes and expect delays until work completes on Aug. 1.  Z107.1

HEALTH NEWS

  • Northwest Health – Porter completed its first combined minimally invasive procedure for non-valvular atrial fibrillation today in Valparaiso, using pulse field ablation to fix abnormal heart rhythm and implanting a left atrial appendage closure device to reduce stroke risk.  Valpo Life
