- ➤ Veteran John Marx from Fawkes Digital launched a new website that uses his Brilliance CRM software—upgraded to serve Valparaiso, Northwest Indiana and beyond—to help connect homeless people with local resources. He bought the domains valposhelter.org and valposhelter.com after discovering the city’s earlier initiative was abandoned in November 2021 and has worked tirelessly to expand its reach. PanoramaNOW
- ➤ Food, Insecure, a new 30-minute documentary that exposes food insecurity in Indiana, will be screened on April 9 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at YMCA Camp Triangle Hills and Retreat Center in Crown Point. The event is hosted by NWI Food Council, CoAction, and the Food Bank of NWI (building on the impact of the Emmy-nominated The Working Hungry screenings) and will feature a panel discussion and lunch to discuss lasting solutions. - ➤ Generous GoFundMe donations helped Midnight, an injured and once-abandoned dog rescued in Gary, make a full recovery at Vale Park Animal Hospital. Dr. Brent Lakia donated the leftover $11,730.39—raised for Midnight’s care—to the Indiana State Police Alliance to support vet care for other pets in need. NWI.LIFE
- ➤ Generous GoFundMe donations helped the injured dog Midnight recover after he was found abandoned on an interstate trailer and brought to a foster home. - ➤ The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County will expand its food waste composting program to the Chesterton area starting on April 9 at the Coffee Creek Farmers Market each Wednesday from 3 pm to 7 pm until October 29. Food scraps will be taken to the Duneland YMCA Healthy Living Campus for composting to help reduce landfill waste. Z107.1
