  • Heartland Christian Center will host an egg hunt at 170 S State Road 49 on April 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Children aged 1—12 should bring flashlights and bags as the egg hunt begins at 7:30 p.m., with inflatables, prizes, and food also offered.  PanoramaNOW

  • Old World Market—a popular downtown shop since 2000—is forced to shut down or move as its building is torn down for a Central Park expansion approved without public notice or a proper council vote.   • A man pleaded guilty to making violent phone threats to schools in Valparaiso, Wheeler, Portage, Union and Washington townships on Jan 26, 2023—according to his attorney.  NWI Times

  • The City of Valparaiso is exploring an expansion of Central Park Plaza by talking with the two landowners east of the park and reviewing community suggestions—Mayor Jon Costas said the process is just beginning and more ideas will be shared early next week.  City of Valparaiso
  • The RDA Board of Directors will hold its first public hearing on the Beverly Shores/Pines Transit Development District boundary on May 8th at 10:00 a.m. in the main conference room at the Purdue Technology Center in Crown Point— a second hearing is set for June 12th at the same location.  Valpo Life
  • On April 7th, the city council meeting lasted 3.5 hours and reviewed opioid grant spending from 2024—highlighting repairs at shelters, police equipment use and social services—as it planned for the 2025 application process.
