  • The City of Valparaiso hosted its annual Community Conference at Valparaiso University's Harre Union today, where over 100 residents and business leaders attended interactive presentations and breakout sessions to learn practical tools for local leadership and community growth.  Valpo Life

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hundreds of NIPSCO line workers approved a new contract and will return to work Tuesday & clerical workers remain locked out without pay. The split decision signals ongoing contract talks that may affect work schedules in the coming days.  NWI Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Valparaiso schools celebrated an aerospace engineer enthusiast from Oak Park in a Student Spotlight feature that highlighted the student's achievements and promoted local pride in education.  NWI Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • INDOT said that Monday, April 27, 2026, U.S. 6 will close between State Road 149 and County Road 200 West for bridge overlay at Salt Creek until late June. Drivers should detour via State Road 149, U.S. 20, and State Road 49 while lane work on State Road 149 continues for pipe replacement.  XROCK 103.9
  • U.S.-6 will close Monday, April 27 for bridge deck overlay work near South Haven between State Road 149 and County Road 200 West, and State Road 149 will have intermittent lane closures near Ravinia Drive; work is expected to continue through late June. Motorists are advised to use the detour via State Road 149, U.S. 20 and State Road 49.  Z107.1

Each day will include workshop presentations by professional jazz artists, performances by area high school jazz ensembles, and nightly featured concerts.

  • Annual Memorial Day Service May 25 at 11 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery

    Graceland Cemetery will host its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Valor Hill, honoring all who have served with a special tribute to veterans laid to rest at Graceland over the past year. Conducted by American Legion Post 94, the free public ceremony will include the reading of each veteran’s name and will move indoors to the mausoleum in the event of rain.
