  • Union representatives for NIPSCO's physical workers ratified a new contract and will return to work on Tuesday, while clerical staff remain locked out (negotiations stalled on April 2).  Lakeshore Public Media

  • NEWU’s University Choir and Gold Standard Singers will join Valparaiso High School choirs for 'Only Light...Only Love' at First United Methodist Church downtown at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 15.   • Sawyer Tonagel received a $1,000 Horizon Bank Slicer Branch Scholarship at LaPorte High School on Tuesday, April 27 - his top grades and community service earned him the honor - and he will attend Taylor University this fall to major in business - joining the basketball team -.  Valpo Life
  • Ivy Tech Community College launched its Early Childhood Education Program at the Valparaiso Campus to offer flexible, hands-on training for future childcare providers.   • IU Northwest hosted its fourth annual Champions and Leadership Awards (April 23 at the Arts and Sciences Building) to honor student-athletes and coaches for their athletic and academic achievements.   • Annual Memorial Day Service May 25 at 11 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery

    Graceland Cemetery will host its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Valor Hill, honoring all who have served with a special tribute to veterans laid to rest at Graceland over the past year. Conducted by American Legion Post 94, the free public ceremony will include the reading of each veteran’s name and will move indoors to the mausoleum in the event of rain.
