  • United Way Northwest Indiana hosted its inaugural Blue Jean Ball: Diamonds & Denim on April 30 at Hebron’s Design Barn to raise funds for local families with live music and auctions. The nonprofit will announce its return to local grant making in June.  NWI.LIFE
  • Sunset Hill Farm was founded in 1881 by Robert Heffron Murray and is now a community park offering seasonal events, playgrounds, an amphitheater, and family activities. Recent improvements include new picnic shelters, playgrounds, and cabins; more campsites will open later this year—preserving the farm’s rich legacy for residents.  Valpo Life

CULTURE NEWS

  • NIRPC, Indiana Dunes Tourism & South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority unveiled a poster for the Marquette Greenway showing a section of the 60-mile trail crossing the Toll Road via a former railroad bridge. The event took place on Wednesday, April 29 at the Indiana Dunes Visitors Center in Porter.  Z107.1
  • Union Pacific Railroad announced its famous Big Boy No. 4014 will pass through northwest Indiana as part of a coast-to-coast tour celebrating America’s 250th anniversary + it will stop briefly in Argos on June 5 and in Knox on July 16 amid eight public display events.  Z107.1
  • The award-winning Nebraska Wesleyan University Choir and Gold Standard Singers will perform 'Only Light...Only Love' on Friday, May 15 at 7 PM at First United Methodist Church, with Valparaiso High School choral students joining the program.  PanoramaNOW

  • Annual Memorial Day Service May 25 at 11 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery

    Graceland Cemetery will host its annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Valor Hill, honoring all who have served with a special tribute to veterans laid to rest at Graceland over the past year. Conducted by American Legion Post 94, the free public ceremony will include the reading of each veteran’s name and will move indoors to the mausoleum in the event of rain.
