  • Sister Aline Shultz has been named a Northwest Indiana Business & Industry Hall of Fame inductee for leading faith-based health care at Franciscan Health and making key improvements for community patients.   • John Diederich was honored for nearly 50 years of service in Northwest Indiana’s banking and nonprofit sectors. He worked at The Commercial Bank in Crown Point, Bank One, JP Morgan Chase, and Peoples Bank—helping local businesses grow and supporting over 250 nonprofits through the John W.   • Andy Arnold was named a 2025 Northwest Indiana Business & Industry Hall of Fame inductee for his work as president of Precision Control Systems, which he built into a trusted partner for local schools, hospitals, and commercial businesses.   • A steel mill in the Calumet Region will be idled soon, which will leave hundreds of workers without jobs—raising concerns about local employment.  NWI Times

  • Lakeshore Public Media will face a 30% cut in its operating budget in 2026 and 2027—coming after state lawmakers removed funding amid a $2.4 billion shortfall—and the station is reducing services and seeking new funds from grants and corporate sponsorships, according to CEO Chuck Roberts.  NWI Times
