  • Valpo Parks Foundation will host a fundraising event at Central Park Pavilion downtown on Friday, June 6th from 6—9 p.m., where local celebrities will compete to raise donations while fans enjoy food, a signature cocktail called Purple Rain, and complimentary sodas.   • Deep River Waterpark is hiring summer workers for lifeguard, guest service, and grounds team roles as the season opens next week.   • Police responded at 2:44 a.m. Sunday to the 1200 block of E. Chicago Street after a resident said a bullet fired from an interior wall into her apartment struck the ceiling, and an 18-year-old was charged in connection with the shooting.  NWI Times

  • Lubeznik Center for the Arts will host its annual ArtBash gala on Saturday, June 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Purdue University Northwest Great Hall in Westville — the event has an Over the Rainbow theme and will feature dancing, live music, auctions and a buffet dinner — to raise funds for its cultural programs.  NWI.LIFE

  • Mayor Jon Costas and the youth council shared junior high students' experiences and ideas at the May 12 city council meeting—students have now been encouraged to apply to join, with the deadline for new applicants set for May 30.
