- ➤ Northern Indiana Public Service Company—supported by the NiSource Charitable Foundation—is accepting applications from qualifying organizations across northern Indiana for its Public Safety Education and Training Action Grant, a program in its seventh year that helps local nonprofits and first responders access vital training, with last year’s sessions including lithium-ion battery response in Cass County and carbon monoxide training for East Chicago residents. - ➤ Drivers on northbound I-65 will face overnight lane closures tonight as INDOT advances bridge work near the I-80/94 interchange; starting Thursday, the ramp from Ridge Road to northbound I-65 will be closed while drivers use Broadway and I-80/94 as detours. INDOT said the new configuration at 35th Avenue — with three lanes open in each direction and one lane closed near the interchange — will remain through late June, and southbound traffic will not change. - ➤ Olthof Homes asked the city to annex an 80-acre property for a new subdivision with single-family homes and townhomes—neighbors at a recent public hearing said the townhomes do not fit with the area.
