Good morning, Valparaiso.

Franciscan Health is changing the old Crown Point hospital campus by demolishing parts of the building and building a YMCA Sportscenter with basketball and pickleball courts that will open in January 2026 — community partners helped by donating land and setting up new safety measures such as construction fencing and adjusted traffic patterns. Some programs and outpatient services will continue on the site, and the work is set to be finished by the end of the year.

Over 2,700 patrons have joined the Porter County Public Library System’s Summer Reading Challenge, which runs from June 1 to July 31 with a 'Color Our World' theme and offers grand prizes—such as Amazon gift cards and an Art Institute membership.

Local entertainment grows this season with a concert series starting July 17 at Central Park Plaza and theater productions at Memorial Opera House—adding lively options for community engagement.
