EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Purdue University Northwest nursing professor Julia Rogers was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, a top honor for her work in teaching and patient care. Her use of virtual reality tools in advanced pathophysiology has helped many nursing students learn—she also mentors new nurses. Valpo Life
- ➤ Indiana University Northwest’s Center for Urban and Regional Excellence is enrolling residents in free and low-cost non-credit courses in business, health, technology, and more. - ➤ Today, Valpo Parks released a Request for Proposals for the Valpo REC project to build a new indoor campus for sports, learning and fun in the former McGill Factory in Valparaiso. Sealed proposals will be accepted until 10:00 a.m. on August 22 and opened at City Hall—with an award recommendation set for September 12 and design-build work planned to begin in October and finish by late 2027. - ➤ On June 20, the Andrean High School Fighting 59ers Baseball Team won its ninth state championship by beating the Jasper Wildcats (4-3) at Victory Field in Indianapolis under head coach Dave Pishkur, who helped the team overcome an early two-run gap. The school will host its annual Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, August 13 (led by the Ambassadors Club) to welcome new students. NWI.LIFE
