- ➤ State regulators approved NIPSCO’s plan to raise electric rates by 16.75% starting this month, meaning a typical customer using 672 kilowatt-hours will pay about $23 more each month as the increase is phased in over the next two years—big businesses will see about a 10% rise. - ➤ Valpo Parks has announced the Valpo REC project to develop an indoor recreation center at the former McGill factory on Campbell Street near Ogden Gardens — design-build work will begin in October with completion aimed for late 2027, and sealed proposals are due by 10:00 a.m. on August 22nd with further review scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on September 12th.
