  • Guardians of the Green Mile will host their largest Woofstock fundraiser and dog walk on August 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the DownTown Valparaiso Amphitheater & Pavilion. The event will include live music by Sarah Archer and Shirttail Kin, food, vendors, games, raffles, and pet blessings while raising money for medical and property needs.  PanoramaNOW

CULTURE NEWS

  • Valpo Creative Council will host the VCC Mural Walk on August 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. downtown — featuring live mural painting by local artists at four new sites and six existing murals.   • Brewski Fest will be held on Friday the 22nd at Central Park Plaza in August and will offer classic beers, a retro dress code, live music beginning with the Rod Stewart Infatuation Tribute at 5:30 p.m., and food trucks. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Purdue University Northwest has started a clean energy program with students and teachers from East Chicago Central and Hammond Central high schools—offering hands-on lessons through classroom sessions, lab work, and visits to local energy sites this summer. The program is funded by a $100,000 grant from the NiSource Charitable Foundation and NIPSCO—helping students build skills for a cleaner energy future.  NWI.LIFE
