Veteran Patrick 'Pete' Goodpaster served in the USMC and has lived in Porter County for 55 years — 50 in Kouts and five in Valparaiso — before joining the American Legion to support his fellow veterans.

He now directs the Valparaiso Post 94 American Legion Riders and leads volunteer projects to give back to the community.

On Monday, August 4, CompressAir joined Operation Feed La Porte County at the fairgrounds to stock a trailer with 7,000 pounds of non-perishable food and a record 9,000 pounds of meat — local volunteers and donors helped supply high-quality protein and essentials to food pantries.
