- ➤ Centier Bank CEO Mike Schrage was named for the third time to the Indiana 250 list by the Indianapolis Business Journal—he led the family-owned bank from a small network to over 60 branches and nearly $10 billion in assets. - ➤ NIPSCO urges homeowners and contractors to call 811 at least two full business days before starting any digging project on Aug. 11—this will help avoid damage to underground utility lines. The company said markings will show locations for gas, electricity, water, and communications lines—reducing the risk of costly repairs and dangerous accidents. NWI.LIFE

- ➤ A Porter County jail officer was arrested after an inmate reported she trafficked Toon (a jailhouse drug made by dipping paper into a liquid narcotic and drying it) that inmates smoked or ingested. NWI Times

- ➤ Representatives from Franciscan Health, The Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation, and Tonn and Blank Construction joined community leaders during a topping off ceremony on August 6th in Crown Point to secure the final beam of the new cancer center made possible by a $30 million donation.
