  • GreatNews.Life has launched its Leadership Life Series, featuring video presentations of Indiana’s business, not-for-profit, elected, & community leaders to showcase their successes and challenges.   • Valpo Parks is upgrading Creekside Golf Course and Forest Park Golf Course in Valparaiso. Creekside will get new cart paths and two high tech simulators this fall, while Forest Park will see new cart paths, a new irrigation system, club cars, benches, ball washers plus a Bender Golf Teehouse nearing completion for year-round play.  XROCK 103.9

  • Chris Mahlmann hosted an interview with Bill Trowbridge, president/CEO of Regional Health Systems, and his wife Jen Trowbridge, CEO of CoAction—discussing the leadership qualities they value and how they balance married life with demanding executive roles. CULTURE NEWS

  • Central Park Plaza in downtown Valparaiso will host the World Cultural Fest on August 24 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm, offering live performances, international cuisine, children’s activities, and cultural booths. The event will include a Parade of Nations starting at 3:15 pm—attendees are invited to join in wearing traditional attire and carrying flags to celebrate diversity.  PanoramaNOW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Valparaiso has launched a $1.5 million sewer and stormwater separation project with a $960,000 EPA grant and support from Congressman Frank Mrvan to protect Salt Creek and reduce flooding downtown—13 million gallons of stormwater will be redirected annually. The design phase, led by Engineering Director Max Rehlander and DLZ, will finish by the end of 2025 with construction set to start in March 2026.  NWI.LIFE
  • Hammond Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. signed Executive Order 25-12 today — the city has halted hiring in response to SEA 1, a law that cuts property tax revenue and threatens local services. The order allows exceptions only for positions essential to public safety and core city operations.  Valpo Life
