  • The flooding of the BP Whiting Refinery during Monday's storm caused wholesale gas prices in the Midwest to rise by 4—6 cents a gallon, experts said. Crews in Whiting continued cleanup efforts and removed hazardous sheen from nearby streets—ensuring the refinery operates safely.  NWI Times

  • The 2020 hit-and-run on East Michigan Boulevard remains unsolved—the statute of limitations nears expiration and Tara Stevens was struck while crossing the street by a dark-colored GMC.  NWI Times

  • Downtown Valparaiso is set to host the World Cultural Festival on Sunday, August 24 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm at Central Park Plaza—where live music, dance, international cuisine, and a Parade of Nations starting at 3:00 pm will celebrate global culture and community unity.  PanoramaNOW
  • Paladin Inc. held its annual summer prom on August 15 at New Creation Vineyard Church and at other venues across Northwest Indiana—serving members a free, formal luncheon and dance.   • Crossroads Chamber and CWI will host a breakfast on Tuesday, September 9 at the South Shore Convention to discuss Indiana's new graduation requirements and workforce readiness with Indiana's first Secretary of Education, Dr. Katie Jenner—Purdue Federal Credit Union sponsors the event with registration starting at 8:15 a.m. and a presentation scheduled for 9:00 a.m.  NWI.LIFE
