  • Korellis, a Hammond roofing contractor, continues to support local charities through its employee outreach program — an effort that has included sponsoring a mobile market at Franciscan Health, helping Humane Indiana Shelter, and volunteering at community events. The company plans more opportunities in Hammond — seeking to give back to the community further.  NWI.LIFE
  • On Friday, October 10, CoAction hosted its annual Reimagine Conference at Valparaiso University, where local experts and service providers learned practical skills for building a stronger community. CoAction President and CEO Jennifer Trowbridge said keynotes and breakout sessions equipped more than 250 attendees with actionable ideas to make positive changes in their work and daily lives.  Valpo Life

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Chris interviewed school leaders Melissa Deavers and Stacey Schmidt on Leadership Life—where they discussed how their roles in Portage Township and Porter Township school districts benefit local education. FINANCE NEWS

  • NIPSCO has opened enrollment for energy assistance programs to help low-income customers pay their gas bills & available programs include Hardship, SERV for veterans and SILVER for seniors & eligible residents have been able to apply since October 1 until May 31 or until funds run out. It takes about 30 days to process applications.  Z107.1

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mental health therapist Kiessa Hamilton has worked since 1999 to help people heal and joined NorthShore Health Centers in August to serve those in need. She supports youth and young adults and plans to open a transition home for those leaving foster care—she also cares for her grandson and writes poetry in her spare time.  NWI.LIFE
  • Northwest Health has added board-certified cardiologist Dr. Sabaa Ahmed at its Cardiology office in La Porte—located at 1331 State St., Suite 140. She will help patients improve heart health with treatment and prevention.  NWI.LIFE
