- ➤ Northwest Indiana Telephone Company’s Rensselaer team—made up of Jennifer Lindahl, Amanda Windle and team lead Paula Thompson—helps local customers get online, by phone and in person while guiding them to new services like fiber internet. - ➤ Valparaiso’s Sunset Hill County Park will host the Haunted Trails event on October 24th and 25th from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.—tickets cost $10 per person with free admission for children under six—and visitors can enjoy a spooky hayride and refreshments at the popular fall attraction. - ➤ Everwise Credit Union offers youth debit cards, savings, and checking accounts to help kids learn money management and budgeting skills. - ➤ At Bishop Noll Institute (BNI), students celebrated homecoming week starting on September 15 with events like Bikers versus Surfers, a 34-14 football win, and crowning Homecoming King and Queen. - ➤ Lake Superior Court Probate Commissioner Ben Ballou swore in four new volunteer advocates on Oct 15 to help seniors and incapacitated adults who need support—Blanca Aranda, Francine Gildon, Christopher Mignogna, and Lauree Pondinas. The program partners Franciscan Health with Lake County Courts and requires training before volunteers serve as guardians. NWI.LIFE
- ➤ Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center and the Cancer Center at Methodist Hospitals held a free women’s health screening event on October 11 that provided 25 pap smears and allowed participants to schedule same-day mammograms and receive cancer prevention information (funded by the Pink Ribbon Society).
