Today, NIPSCO urged residents to install and test CO detectors during Carbon Monoxide Awareness Month — this odorless gas from incomplete fuel burning can kill quickly, and regular inspections of fuel-burning systems help prevent poisoning.

NIPSCO advised customers in November to install working carbon monoxide detectors on every floor and to check batteries regularly—since the silent gas can kill in five minutes at high levels.
