Teams such as Chesterton’s and Portage’s hold daily after-school practices for four to five hours per week — their rigorous training shows a strong commitment to academic excellence — as they prepare for upcoming 2025 competitions. - ➤ Phoenix Global (a suburban Philadelphia-based metals company) agreed to pay $190,860 in civil penalties for alleged Clean Air Act violations at its Burns Harbor slag processing facility and will install new equipment (to reduce harmful emissions) that will improve air quality for nearby communities. - ➤ Today, NIPSCO + NiSource Charitable Foundation announced the 2025 Environmental Action Grant winners, awarding 23 local nonprofits grants between $500 + $5,000 to fund environmental projects and education in the service area.
